A Little About The Gilbert Soccer Club And Arsenal 2000 Classic Boys
The Gilbert Soccer Club is the home of the Arsenal, and our teams proudly wear the colors of teal, black, and white. The Gilbert Soccer Club was formed in 1992 with just four teams from Gilbert Youth Soccer Association (GYSA). Over the last 17 years we have grown steadily and will be entering this season with 46 teams. Part of our growth is attributed to the growth of the town of Gilbert, but much is attributed to our outstanding coaching staff and their ability to teach the game of soccer.
Our team is the Classic 2000 Boys, formed in the winter season 09 from a great group of Academy kids that had excelled under the direction of the 2000 boys Premier Coach. Many of the boys had a great soccer background, some from San Tan Legacy Club team, some from the 2000 Premier boys team and then some from the GYSA Rec league. The boys gelled together so well that the team has attracted the eye of many of the GSC coaches and many other league coaches.
The 2009 – 2010 season added several more boys to the team that where a great asset to the team. The boys placed 6th in the state rankings at the end of the 2009/2010 season and finished the season in 2nd place in division #3. The 2010/2011 season is starting and the boys have several out of area and 1 out of state tournament planned. Coach Jim Vanney has come aboard as the new head coach and has much to offer the boys in the way of experience and skills. This year stands to be another great year for the 2000 Classic boys, don’t let the name fool you these boys ROCK!
