The schedule is on the calendar and we have 1 out of area game in Tucson and only 1 Sunday game too. The funny game is that we are playing the Select team at Westside Complex, a 40 minute drive to play our own club. I am not complaining at all I just think it is funny, glad to have a field to play on for sure.

The schedule might changed so check it out often please. I will tryand also keep you all posted if anything changes too.

 While the 2000 Classic Boys and the 93 Select Boys are in CA for the NHB Boys Tournament over Labor Day they are doing a service project. Both teams will be collecting soccer balls and any other soccer equipemnt (new or gently used) to donate to an inner city soccer club called Compton United.

For the month of August we will be taking donations of items at multiple locations (see below) and we would like to invite all GSC families as well as our Gilbert/Chandler community to donate to this worthwhile service project. While both teams are in the Southern California area they will be delivering these items to the Compton United Soccer Club.

About the Compton United Soccer Club

Compton United Soccer Club was created to fill the absence of sanctioned, quality youth soccer programs in the inner city.

However, in the inner city the need is greater than simply a nice field and decent coaching. Inner city youth face significant obstacles each day, often just trying to survive is a struggle. So the need is more than just another recreation program or a simple diversion. They need a vision, they need to belong to something, they need something that will take them somewhere, they need hope.

Why is this so important?

  • Everyone deserves a chance to play soccer
  • US Soccer is missing immeasurable talent by not plugging into the independent Latino leagues
  • Soccer can be a much more significant key to race relations in America than it has been so far
  • Soccer is a worldwide language and a platform for leadership and community development

We are all done with registration now, uniforms are handed out, tournaments are set and the boys are running in the heat. Sounds like this 2010/2011 season has begun! We have a wonderful group of boys and families assembled and this year looks to be even better than the last. We are welcoming our new coach, Jim Vanney aboard this new season and excited for all the new drills and skills the boys will learn this year. This season holds the boys 1st out of state tournament in CA as well as a long in state road trip to Flagstaff to see the fall leaves and kick the ball around all weekend.
